Band Terms

Band Director- Ms. Smith- The ultimate leader in our band!

Staff- These are adults who oversee certain sections of our band. (Brass, Winds, Percussion, Color Guard)

Drum Major- This senior is interviewed and chosen by Ms. Smith at the beginning of the season and represents our entire band.  They also direct our band during Competitions/Football games

Leadership- These are students who were interviewed at the beginning of the season and selected to lead their sections

Practice- Sessions scheduled by Ms. Smith where the whole band gets together to practice

Sectionals- Sessions scheduled by leadership where their section practices on a particular song/part

Band Fees- Allotted amount that needs to be paid by the student for our  marching band to function.  We try to keep this at a minimum so we do Fundraisers throughout the year. These do not cover all expenses for the season and we will generally ask for food donations throughout our marching season to help.  

Student Sponsorships- Students who need help with their band fees can fill these out prior to our season and get sponsored by an individual/business. These are very limited!

General Sponsorships-  These are different levels of Sponsorships.  Open to EVERYONE and are essentially us working together to get funds for our band.  We also accept food/snack donations throughout our season! Ask anyone and everyone because the worst they can say is "No" Click here to see our Sponsorship Form

Band App-  This is an App that we use to communicate upcoming events/schedules/needs.  Please make sure you are on this and have notifications turned on especially during our competition season!  Contact us if you need access.

Football Game/Competition Terms

Football Games- These are all at home games where our students perform.  We don't always play at half time, but we do play show tunes throughout the game weather permitting.

Competitions- These are off site events where our band is judged on their show performance.  We need A LOT of volunteers for these days and these are usually all day commitments. Click here to see all schedules previously posted to get an idea of what to expect for these days.

Sign-Up Genius-  This is an App that we use designated for all our Volunteers!  Please make sure you sign-up so we know you are committed.  We never assume a spot is taken if you are not signed up. Click here to see ALL Sign-Ups available!

Call Time- When students MUST be at the school and READY to practice before Football Games/ Competitions

Lunch Volunteers- Usually before we leave to go to a competition we provide lunch for our students.  We need Volunteers to help set up/ serve/ take down before we leave.  Times are sent out in the Sign-up Genius along with our Competition Schedule

Load Time- This is before we leave the school and usually while we are serving lunch.  Please check the times sent out for this

Performance Time- This is when our band will be on the field performing!

Prelims-  This is the first round of finals and decides which bands get to perform again for a chance to win it all! We do not know our second performance time until after we have made it into the Finals!

Finals-  These are the final awards and you have to make it through the Prelims to get here.
